Paul, aka "Tall Paul, He's our All," was born October 20, 1934 near Malvern, Arkansas to Eugene and Rubye (Davis) Branham. He attended Malvern High School in 1950-1951 before enlisting in the Arkansas National Guard. In 1952, he enlisted in the US Navy where he served with honor until 1972. His skills in military aviation engineering led him to a successful and notable career in civil service aviation at North Island Naval Base on Coronado Island, CA. During his tenure, he earned numerous awards, including an honor from President Jimmy Carter in 1980. Two of his engineering suggestions were incorporated into the F-18 fighter jet and he was very proud of his contributions in keeping our military safe. He was an avid photographer, country music crooner, chocolate-chip cookie baker, part-time gardener, and master of cross word puzzles and Sudoku. Besides his family, his lifelong passion was restoring classic cars, including a 1937 cherry red Dodge Coupe that was his pride and joy. He was beloved by his wife, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and furry best friend, Korky.
Paul is survived by his wife of nearly 60 years, Val Branham of San Diego, CA; his four children, Elizabeth Brooks of Midlothian, Virginia, Paul Eugene Branham of San Diego, CA, Valerie Davis of Temecula, CA and son-in-law Timothy, and Jeanie Branham of Scottsdale, AZ; his six grandchildren, Julia (Brooks) Davis (m. Todd Davis), Timothy and Madeline Davis, Alexandra, Reid and Sophia Perez; three great-grandchildren, Blakely, Emilia and Baby Boy Davis; and his sister Dora Mae Patrick of Malvern, Arkansas. He was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene and Rubye, his sister Shirley Zabihi of Malvern, Arkansas and his nephew Jonathan Zabihi of Malvern, Arkansas. Gone from our sight, Papa, but forever in our hearts. May you always fly fast and high. We love you dearly.
